Waalhaven by Ian Driver

“Waalhaven” (pronounced Vall hafen) depicts a Strukton Rail depot (the Dutch division of Nederlandse Spoorwegen one of the companies responsible for the maintenance of the rail infrastructure), based in the Rotterdam Europort where much of the materiel required is brought in by barge to nearby wharves, or by Rail for redistribution on works trains to wherever they are needed on the NS network. .

Facilities at the yard include various sheds and waterside warehouses where dry materiels are stored, as well as a small container crane to allow loading and loading in the container maintenance area..

The layout is set at the turn of the century as the Dutch Railways started to open up to private operators and therefore other operators other than Strukton now use the facilities of the yard.  The locomotives and wagons in use depict the various liveries of Railion, Railpro, RailFeeding, Strukton and Volkerail.

The layout measures 10ft x 15”,  with a full 10ft scenic area.

The layout can be transported in a single car and is operated by two or three operators.
